How To Be Involved:
There are four major ways to get involved with OwlThon at FAU. You can get involved by being: a Dancer, Fundraiser, Morale Captain or a External, Finance, or Internal Captain.
Students who wish to dance will register as part of their organization’s team on Donor Drive. Then, throughout the year Dancers are encouraged to raise as much money for the cause as they possibly can through points and incentives. Dancers must raise $105 by the week prior to OwlThon in order to be eligible to dance!
For those who are unable to fully commit to becoming a dancer, fundraising is for you! All you have to do is create an online fundraising account on Donor Drive, as a member of your organization’s team, and raise as much money as you possibly can throughout the year. Fundraisers, who raise $1,000, or more, will be a part of our highly esteemed Comma Club. Comma Club members will receive an exclusive shirt, a VIP visitor if they are dancing and Recognition at OwlThon 2018!
During OwlThon, Morale Captains will be required to teach the line dance, have positive energy and help when needed for on campus campaigns. Throughout the year morale captains will be required to help with fundraising, tabling in the Breezeway, participate in OwlThon promotional events and always have high spirits towards OwlThon.Morale Captains will be required to raise $750, be FTK, and attend meetings every other week. They will receive an exclusive Morale Captain T-shirt for the 2017-2018 year.
External, Finance, Internal Captains:
Being a Captain is a year-long commitment where you will be working alongside one of the members of the Overall Team; External, Finance, or Internal. Being a Captain is a great stepping stone to train to become a member of the Executive Board in the following year. As a Captain, you will be assigned to a single Overall to assist in any work they need to complete. You are responsible for attending any meetings an Overall cannot attend, help collaborate on ideas this Overall is working on and ensure that OwlThon is as successful and productive as can be throughout the year. Being a Captain is the best chance to see how OwlThon operates behind the scenes.
A delegate is the representative from an organization participating in OwlThon, whose primary responsibility is to convey information to the members of their organization and motivate them to make a difference in the lives of kids at Shands Children’s Hospital. Delegates are the live heartbeat of OwlThon and we are extremely thankful for the hard work and passion they dedicate for the kids.
